We are back from the greater Philadelphia area. I spent a lot of time over the weekend telling people how lovely our weather is here in San Diego as we all stood around in sticky Philly heat. On the plane ride home (what an ordeal!), I was looking forward to a comfy bed, a shower that worked, and a cool non-sticky breeze at night. Imagine my surprise when we stepped out of the airport into more muggy warm weather! Imagine my gasping when we walked into a house that was full of hot stagnant air! What is this heat wave and when is it going away?
The whole trip was fun and we managed to eat a lot of non-healthy food. The problem with looking forward to all these snacks and also being hungry by the time we get them is that I dive in before ever getting a picture. So, here are some of the yummy things we ate that the camera never saw:
- Scrapple, egg, and cheese bagel sandwich
- Cheesesteak stromboli in Millersville
- French crullers and coffee from Dunkin’ Donuts
- Rita’s water ice in strawberry and blueberry
- real Philadelphia soft pretzels
- more French crullers and Dunkin’ Donuts coffee at the PHL airport
We also documented a cheesesteak taste-off between historic rivals Pat’s and Geno’s. That was a fun one, so I’ll be putting up pictures on that as well as our thoughts on the winner.
I’m happy to be back home with the pups and I’m so glad we have an air conditioner in the dog room and the bedroom. I would be so miserable without them right now! Our schedule looks like it has a little downtime, so maybe I’ll have some time to get back on the elliptical to work off all this Philly comfort food.
