Elvis + Reese’s

While coming back from the Leonesse wine club pick-up night, we stopped (at my request) at the Wal-Mart in Temecula in search of some sort of cabinet to hide the cat litter box in.  I wanted to move it out of the the extra “bedroom” so we can make it more useable and add a second guest room.  There are tons of sites selling cat furniture and custom cabinets designed just for this, but they are expensive and then also have to be shipped to me (more costs).  Between Wal-Mart, Target, and Ikea, I knew I could find something suitable right here.  I found an armoire at Wal-Mart and decided to buy it right then and there.  T called it an impulse purchase; I countered that it was not, because I knew what I was looking for, found it right away, and decided to buy it before it disappeared.

Now, if you want an impulse purchase, the Reese’s peanut butter cups I picked up at the checkout stand would qualify.  Not specifically the regular ones, but these Elvis commemorative peanut butter + banana cups on display!  I was wary (hence buying the regular ones as backup) but since I do like peanut butter and bananas, I thought this new candy might actually work.

I tore open the package in the car in the parking lot (I have no patience after drinking) and took a bite.  Slightly artifical banana flavor, but it wasn’t overpowering like banana Laffy Taffy is.  Because it was slightly muted, it really did pair well with the Reese’s peanut butter and the chocolate.  Just enough banana to make it different, just enough to make it still tasty.  I approved, T mostly approved, and now I’m wondering if I should go buy some more to store in the fridge.

I didn’t see these at Target or at the grocery store and I haven’t looked at the local Wal-Marts.  If you do see them, and if you like peanut butter and banana, you might just like them.

  1. Been looking for these candies and finally found them in a big bag (individual pieces) at Walmart. They are addictive. Freeze or refrigerate them for better flavor.

  2. I found the 11-oz bags today (9-2) at Target on sale for $2. yum!
